BUILDING DESCRIPTION:
The term "Shangri-La" refers to paradise on earth, and that is exactly what the ultra-luxury hotel/condo development of the same name is trying to creat at Adelaide and University in downtown Toronto. Following up on its Living Shangri-La Vancouver hotel condominium project, Shangri- La Hotels and Resorts with Westbank and Peterson Group is introducing the new Living Shangri La Toronto, designed by James K.M. Cheng Architects and Young Wright Architects. The hotel will occupy the first 17 floors of a $430-million, 65-storey tower. Luxury condominiums will be located on the upper levels. At 65 stories it will not be the tallest condo in Toronto, but it will likely be in the top 3 along 1 Bloor and Aura. The hotel will feature a three-storey lobby with a cafe, a mezzanine-level restaurant overlooking University Avenue, and Chi, The Spa, the hotel and resort chain's spa brand.
Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently manages 50 hotels around the world under Shangri-La and Traders brands. The building has a clean-lined contemporary design with Asian influences, featuring spa, lounge, retail and restaurant spaces, along with hotel guest rooms and both pieda-terre and "estate style" residential suites. Target market is an international group of buyers, many with other homes, looking for a pieda-terre or a larger residence in a hotel building. Shangri-La Toronto will be one of the best 5 star condo/ hotel buildings in Toronto.
Residences: occupying floors 18- 48 feature one and two bedroom suites from 800-1,850 sq.ft.
Private Estates: floors 49 -63 feature two bedroom and two bedroom + suites from 1,843 - 3,343 sq.ft
Sub-Penthouses: Called the “Signature Suites”. They are not true sub-penthouses based on their location in the building, but they are the next largest suites in the building, located on floors 49 to 63. They are 2-storey units also, priced at $6.4555M or $6.2455M with about 4,430 sq ft
Penthouses: 2-storey units, each one composing one-half of the top-2 floors of the building (floors 64+65). $12.5485M each. 6,730 sq ft. North/East/West exposures or South/East/West exposures.
Key Features: unique, 2-storey designs with living rooms open to above creating a dramatic 22′ high ceiling with 22′ high windows in the living rooms, custom closet organization systems, private, enclosed parking spots available, Italian-style kitchens by Boffi, high-end Sub- Zero and Miele appliances and marble and stone finishes. Residents will be able to take advantage of hotel amenities such as the in-house spa, a fitness centre and such a la carte services as housekeeping and room service. There will be a concierge and doorman, and residents in the estate and penthouse suites will also have valet parking included. Standouts The hotel will feature restaurants and retail elements, the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts is across the street and shopping and the services of downtown are close by.
